You have done the hard work of searching and identifying your style inspiration and you followed our steps to build an outfit. (If you still need to find your inspiration click here, or if you need to know how to build an outfit click here)
The third step in your fashion journey is to show the world your new creation. All you have to do is put it on and wear it out! We understand that this is often easier said than done…
What will people think!?
Trying things on in the comfort of your own home is all well and good, but wearing it out!? That’s a whole ‘nother animal. People are going to SEE you in it...
Really, people will barely notice, if anything they’ll compliment you or ask where you bought it, people (for all their faults) are generally pretty nice.
This isn’t me
I’ve never really dressed like this, and I don’t want to be vain or materialistic! News flash: everybody cares about how they look, but some people want to look like they don’t care… doesn’t make much sense does it?
Fashion is a tool, it is a hobby, it makes you happy, don’t let anyone (even yourself) judge you for trying something new!
You’ll get comfortable with your new style
Like a newborn taking her first steps, you will feel awkward and wobbly when you don your new threads. That’s ok, that’s normal, it takes time to get comfortable... but I can assure you it will happen and you’ll love it.
Before long things you’d never imagine yourself “pulling off” become a staple of your everyday wardrobe (I’m looking at you jumpsuits, rompers and bodysuits).
You’ll learn how to take a compliment!
A simple “thank you!” is the perfect response in 99% of cases. Love that top! Thank you. Resist the urge to say “oh, this old thing?” it’s not the 1940s you know?
Enjoy the compliments you get, because you will be getting a lot!
You’ll gain confidence.
Over time, you’ll realize that hey, I AM beautiful, I AM fashionable, and my outfit is on trend and FABULOUS. You’ll start gliding into the room with confidence and grace, you will gain the benefits of being the fashionable one.
You’ll get better, practice makes perfect!
Remember, being the fashionable one is a skill like any other and every outfit you build and wear out is valuable experience. Everything you wear will feed into the next outfit you build, and the next, and the next!
Fashion is so exciting because it is always evolving, and the only way to keep pace is to continue to practice and push your own personal style.
Ask yourself these questions and be truthful!
Did you feel confident or are you uncomfortable in your outfit?
Did you feel stylish?
Did you catch yourself checking yourself out? (yes girl!)
Is there a piece of clothing you are loving more than you thought?
Is there a piece that you really regret wearing?
How did everything fit?
